Bits and Pieces...Here and There...

The ideal is overrated. Or that’s what I think. Every day on social media I see posts about how distance doesn’t matter in true and strong relationships.I see people raving about the fact that the best of friendships last without daily conversations. That the need to keep in touch is not that great a need when there is that phenomenal amount of trust, faith and love.

And it makes me wonder if we have started underestimating the power of kind words, affection, the physical presence, of showing in small little ways that you really do care…

I am not an idealist…maybe I was one in the past. But now I realize the importance of these mundane things and how incomplete life is without them.

Try it – say something nice to people who love you… and watch their expressions change.  Watch them immediately brighten up. Hold your friend’s hand once and see how reassuring it feels. Smile warmly at someone who is sad, and see how infectious your smile is. You will never know how one word of affection, a small act of kindness, one gentle touch, or just your being there can really, really change someone’s life…

Ok…maybe I exaggerated there….but then, maybe I didn’t! You never know…
